EzQuake is a QuakeWorld engine built upon the FuhQuake engine, which was built upon the ZQuake engine, which in turn was built upon the QuakeWorld sourcecode released by id software in 1999 under the GPL license. ezQuake is a group effort maintained by members of the QW playing community.
ezQuake was instigated in mid 2004 by members of the Quake playing fraternity who felt the development of FuhQuake (which had to that point been the main QW engine used in leagues and teamplay) was progressing too slowly (fuh had his own educational commitments to attend to).
The most obvious differences from FuhQuake are the integration of the MQWCL server browser and custom hud into the client, many visual enhancements, and many useful features.
