I once heard Ey Iran used as the introduction to a weekly Iranian radio programme in a Canadian city. It was an orchestral arrangement sung by a man who had obviously been trained in a Western classical music singing style. The version is very proud and powerful and the singing amazing. I really would like to get hold of it. Does anyone know who that singer might have been? It's not any of the versions linked at the bottom of the article. Thank you! The article mentions that Ey Iran briefly had official status (it does not say when). Later it says Ey Iran was "unofficially used in the transitionary period between the time of the Shah (deposed February, 1979) until the adoption of the national anthem of the Islamic Republic(March, 1980)". The anthem of the Islamic Republic; Sorood-e Melli-e Jomhoori-e Eslami-e Iran however was adopted in 1990. The article about the last anthem states that it replaced the 'anthem used during the time of Ayatollah Khomeyni'. This last anthem presumably used from march 1980 until 1990 can not be found in one of these articles. Could someone make clear which anthem was used after 1980, what the official anthem was (if there was one) during the transition period when Ey Iran was used unofficially and when the briefly period was in which Ey Iran had a official status.
