Extremities (film)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Extremities is a 1986 film starring Farrah Fawcett, Alfre Woodard, Diana Scarwid, and James Russo. It was adapted from the successful, yet controversial, 1982 Broadway play by William Mastrosimone.
Fawcett plays Marjorie, a young woman who works in a museum and lives with two female roommates. One night while getting in her car, she is attacked by a masked assailant (Russo). She manages to escape but not before he makes off with her purse. She goes to the police but is told there is nothing they can do. The next day, Marjorie's nightmare comes true as the assailant, played by James Russo, forces his way into her house while she is alone. Marjorie tries to escape but is captured by the man. He humiliates and beats her. She finally manages to overpower him by spraying his eyes. She then ties him up in their fireplace. Her roommates arrive and the rest of the film involves them debating over what to do. She finally forces him to admit his guilt and calls the police.
For her performance, Fawcett received a 1986 Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Drama.
