Explosion! New formation Ino-Shika-Cho (Japanese: 炸裂！ニューフォーメーションいのシカチョウ, - Sakuretsu! Nyū fōmēshon Inoshikachō) is episode 145 of the anime series Naruto.

Team Asuma (Ino, Shikamaru & Choji) takes on Fujin & Raijin. Shikamaru stops the brothers with his Shadow Imitation jutsu, but has trouble holding on to them due to their incredible strength that is compared to the Legendary Sannins. Naruto & Pakkun resume their pursuit telling them to be careful due to their monster like powers. The brothers become enraged about how they are treating him like this while Iruka fights Mizuki by following bloody footprints. Mizuki uses a genjutsu which causes the ground below Iruka to sink like quicksand and a puppet with a sword on Iruka, which is not an illusion but the attack is unsuccessful when Iruka dispels the illusion then kicks the puppet. Still, Iruka is impressed by the combination of ninja skills.

Choji and Ino help Shikamaru restrain Fujin & Raijin. Choji grabs Raijin around the waist, while Ino uses her Mind Body Switch jutsu on Fujin. Shikamaru says that the formation is completed while Raijin wonders what is wrong with Fujin. Meanwhile, Mizuki has lead Iruka to an abandoned building, which used to be a ninja training center. Iruka keeps trying to talk to Mizuki about him using such high level techniques and why he leaves them to waste, but keeps getting nowhere. Mizuki talks about how he felt disrespected by the village, despite his accomplishments.

He flashes back to a mission where he had to deliver a secret document. One of his teammates was wounded, so Mizuki stayed behind for a few seconds, proclaimed him dead then killed him, rather than carry him or leave him behind.

Mizuki: Those who aren't of any use on the battlefields are just a hindrance. Although it's a minor injury, you can't move with that wound.

Person: If you're going to hold a grudge, hold a grudge aganist your imcompetence! (His eyes bulge out and he is killed)

Iruka says that it's not too late for him to change back to him normal side and everyone will acknowledge him. This lead to his being passed over for a position as an Academy instructor. Iruka was apparently nervous during that time but he says that Mizuki has top grades and passing the test should be easy. Mizuki laughs it off saying the best of luck to them both and they enter the building. Mizuki save Iruka's life when they entered the building from a kunai trap but when the successful instructors are posted, Mizuki is not one of them and Mizuki runs off after Iruka cheers when he sees his name. Mizuki passes the exam office and hears the Third and a bunch of ninjas say that the leg wound that Mizuki had described was not so intense as he said. Mizuki may be an excellent ninja but he may be distrustful. Back in the present Mizuki enters that same building and Iruka follows with the door closing behind him. Iruka screams whether he has no intention of reforming and they fight.

Ino, Shikamaru & Choji are being pushed to their limits and beyond by Fujin & Raijin. Ino uses Fujin's body to attack Raijin, and he counterattacks by grabbing Fujin's neck and punching him in the face yelling for Fujin to wake up, disrupting Ino's Mind Body Switch jutsu, who goes back to her own body. Ino notices how her cheeks have gone flabby from the punch and wails about her beautiful face. Then he breaks away from Choji's hold and throws him at Shikamaru (but misses). Shikamaru uses the Shadow Neck Bind jutsu, and it seems to work well.

Naruto & Pakkun try to catch up to Iruka, but they are being followed by someone else. Iruka fights Mizuki, but has a hard time keeping up with his speed. Mizuki says that after being in prison for such a long time and practicing, he had obtained a technique that no normal ninja could obtain. Meanwhile, Ino uses Mind Body Disturbance Technique, this time targeting Raijin and forcing him to grab hold of Fujin. Now it is Fujin wondering what happened to Raijin.

Naruto & Pakkun finally reach the building, and their pursuer steps into the light; it's Tsubaki, Mizuki's old girlfriend (SEE: episode 143), now dressed in a ninja uniform, but without a headband. Meanwhile, Iruka is still fighting Mizuki, and is having a hard time finding his opponent in the dimness. Mizuki, hanging from the ceiling, taunts him about how hard it is to find someone how has been living in the light for so long being not accustomed to the darkness.

Fujin & Raijin are on the verge of breaking free from Ino & Shikamaru's jutsu, so Choji helps them by using Partial Multi-Size. Before, Ino says that he'll just be thrown off again but Shikamaru says that chubby guys like him come in handy. Using both of his hands, the size of the brothers, he clenches his now-giant fists around Fujin & Raijin's bodies and basically squeezes them saying that he's the number one coolest chubby ninja.

Iruka reaches out with his senses, trying to find Mizuki. Instead, he detects a group of explosive tags which are about to go off. Naruto & Pakkun are stunned when the top half of the building explodes, and the remains collapse in upon themselves. They know that Iruka is still inside and rush to help. The episode ends.
