Template talk:Example
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This template doesn't work.
Intended usage is that
- {{example|[[1958-02-17]]}}
should give
i.e., it should give an example of what the given wikicode produces. However it does not work because the nowiki call prevents the expansion of the {{{1}}} parameter. The template should therefore be fixed (if that is possible - I cannot see a way) or deleted.

[edit] Software Modification Needed?
This is a great idea! Perhaps a new tag needs to be added to MediaWiki for this. I've contemplated ways of doing the same thing and have never been able to come up with anything that works. Perhaps something like <example>[[1958-02-17]]</example>
would be possible to implement. Or maybe a version of <nowiki> that does not apply until after transclusion would do the job. —TheMuuj Talk 20:18, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
