The term 'New Urbanism' is used as a selling ploy on many developments. For the sake of attribution/verifiability, references should be made to independent sources (ie. academic) that describe the development as new urbanist, and not promotional sources. Also, perhaps a better name for this article would be "List of New Urbanism developments" or "List of developments with New Urbanism influences"? --maclean 07:13, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

I agree that some additional criteria should be used to verify that a development actually meets the majority of the definition of new urbanism. However, this can raise some problems, as there doesn't seem to be a good way to determine whether or not a development really is "new urban." I put this list up as somewhat of a starting point. For those that came from promotional or developers' sites, I tried to glean from their description whether the site is being developed in the "spirit" of new urbanism (which is admittedly very subjective).
