[edit] Synopsis
Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.
Phoebe tries to help the ghost of Charlene, a fellow student, who was killed by a demon known as Libris to prevent the publication of her thesis proving the existence of evil. With Prue's help, Phoebe and Charlene try to vanquish Libris before he can kill Phoebe, but are surprised to learn that Charlene's ghost cannot move on to the next plane of existence until she helps Prue solve the murder of another young woman. Meanwhile, Piper's efforts to get the nightclub ready for a performance by "The Goo Goo Dolls" are interrupted when Dan reveals unsettling news about Leo's past.

- Libris: In the demonic hierarchy, there are none more insidious than those who belong to this order for the work of the Demon is to keep the world in Darkness and Ignorance. The haunting grounds of these monsters are found wherever humans have the potential to find unequivocal proof of the existence of Demons. Libris lures his victims, then drags them through a portal to another location and decapitates them with his scythe.

[edit] Trivia
- Ex Libris is a Latin saying meaning "from the books", which plays into the story taking place in a library and the name of the highlighted demon.
- The poster Piper did was different than the one shown earlier - a little banner sticker is visible when Dan pulled up with the file on Leo.
- Phoebe says that neophyte ghosts cannot pick up solid objects, but in the end, Charlene is able to pick up plenty of solid things in the pawn shop. That is probably because "neophyte" means new. Phoebe said that Charlene catches on fast (while she levitates in the kitchen), so by the time she had to scare Gibbs, she was no longer a neophyte, she was used to being a ghost and was then able to pick up solid objects.
- Prue and Phoebe catch Piper and Leo in the shower. This is later repeated in the episodes PreWitched and Cat House.
- Piper freezes Dan from punching Leo in this episode. She later does the same thing in the episode Run Piper, Run, but in that episode, she allows the person to punch him after all.
