[edit] Differences between Ev Psyche and Dev Ev Psyche

I'm not sure I can perceive a difference between EP and EDP (the disciplines not the articles). Islandsage 18:33, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

  • Well, one major difference is that evolutionary psychology tends to focus on adult behaviors and perhaps the behavior of children in certain contexts, such as parent-offspring conflict. EDP focuses on the process of human ontogeny and how it is interrelated with evolutionary theory. I tend to think that EDP is more sophisticated than EP, though I suppose it has to be since it's incorporating development. So EDP has an extra dimension to it that you don't see in EP. I'll bet that within a few years, EP will be very heavily influenced by EDP. I guess another way of looking at it is by asking what's the difference between mainstream psychology and mainstream developmental psychology? EPM 20:27, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
