[edit] Fair use rationale

The point in having reduced image resolution is that this has been understand by U.S. courts to be using less than the entire work, one of the four basic tests in the U.S. doctrine, not to avoid "sending pirates" to the copyright holders' website. We seem to be saying here that we are using the entire work, precisely so that other people won't go to the copyright holder's website. I'm unsure what to say about that other than, "please read our fair use article and don't write anything like that again". Jkelly 21:09, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Deletion

From image page: "While Evanescence is a very popular band and would probably be easier to get user-created pictures of than most, the fact remains that in general it's incredibly difficult to get good free use images of bands. The reasons are two-fold: the majority of user-contributed images are going to be from 1) dark concerts with bad lighting, where the band is spread across the stage and difficult to see, or 2) individual members posing with a fan. Highly unlikely that a decent picture of just the band outside of a concert setting could be found.

"Can this image be replaced by a different one, while still having the same effect?" No, any free use image would be of very poor quality for the reasons stated above."

See the reasoning given when a previous image of this band was deleted: Image talk:Evanescence 1.jpg. Nothing has changed since then. ed g2stalk 11:26, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
