It's an archaic spelling of 'demon' that might have been used in Descartes' original draft, and since modernized in most current renditions. (I don't know anything: that just seems the most plausible explanation.) Even if that is the case, I have no objection to moving the article. -Toptomcat 17:58, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, I've only ever heard it referred to as 'evil demon' or sometimes 'evil genius'.--HisSpaceResearch 18:30, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
