Evgeni Gegechkori

Evgeni Gegechkori (Evgeny Petrovich Gegechkori in Russian manner) (1881-1954) was a prominent Georgian politician and Menshevik leader.

A Social-Democrat activist, he was a member of the Russian State Duma in 1907-1912. One of the leaders of Georgian Mensheviks, he chaired the so-called Transcaucasian Komisariat (i.e. interim government) in November 1917 and was appointed Foreign Minister of the Democratic Republic of Georgia in May 1918. After the Red Army invasion of Georgia, Gegechkori fled to France in March 1921.
