[edit] Eastlink

Please note that the title format "Eastlink (disambiguation)" should only be used when one particular example of the title is so overwhelmingly more important than the others that it really deserves to be at the undifferentiated title (eg. Ottawa vs. Ottawa (disambiguation).)

Generally, the guideline is this: if you seriously intend to make Eastlink a redirect to Eastlink (disambiguation) rather than a distinct article, then the dab page should just be at "Eastlink". Bearcat 23:24, 13 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Meetup in March

I see that you are listed as a participant in the WikiProject Melbourne. If you are a Melbourne resident I would appreciate your views on the suggested Meetup in March . Please give some indication of your interest, or otherwise, in the idea. Even a simple "No thanks" with your user name would be welcome and assist in assessing the level of support for a meetup. Thank you.. Cuddy Wifter 06:30, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for keeping an eye out, anyhow :-) +sj + 01:23, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Userboxes

Hey Evan, In my travels I discovered a userbox that you may wish to use...

This user is a railfan.

Cheers, Glennnnn

[edit] Template:MelbSuburbBox2/Water

Evan, I've tried the template at Flinders, Victoria. Could you take a look and see that I've got it right, or edit it to what it should be. My understanding of tables is not the best. Regards - Cuddy Wifter 06:27, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia survey

Hi. I'm doing a survey of Wikipedia editors as part of a class research project. It's quick, anonymous, and the data will be made available to the Wikipedia community later this month. Would you like to take part? More info here. Thanks! Nonplus 00:00, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Arbitration

I do not know whether it is worth re-opening the case given the nature of the changing IP editting. I think PSYCH and his friends will get on with their lives soon enough. This is really getting pretty petty. Xtra 05:54, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

I think this is a good reason to support the idea of only letting registered users edit. Xtra 05:57, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

"someone really hates you" Yeh, I kind of figured that one out a while back. Xtra 09:18, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] I do listen

I just don't agree that's all.

1. Cranbourne is NOT surrounded by farmland, areas surounding Cranbourne are growing and not generally used for farming anymore. I looked at the Melway too!

2. Well 'organizing' is the correct spelling according to the OED but 'coordinating' makes more sense.

3. From WP:STYLE#National varieties of English: If an article's subject has a strong tie to a specific region/dialect, it should use that dialect. A stong tie? What are you on about?

4. I looked at the Melbourne Train Network in the Melway and it doesn't say anything about the end of the line so 'terminates' is fine with me.

[edit] Lighten Up

Geez lighten up, you're 16 for crying out loud. Stop your bitching! Pnatt 19:20, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] PRIDE drawings

Sorry but I forgot to let you know that I added two drawings of my own PID's for the article because I thought the article needed them. Thanks for also fixing up the images. I was abit pressed for time. Lakeyboy 08:30, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] thanks

Cheers for the simple answer to my formatting problem! michael talk 14:58, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Lakeyboy

Yeah Evan, my comments on Lakeyboy's userpage were not a personal attack at all. I honestly dont understand why he has on his page that he has an AM radio and a FM radio. I stand by my comments that this is a pointless waste of bandwidth.

Similarly, I do think that 99% of non paraplegic population would have completed a 5000meter run.

I would love to know why you are removing these comments. I fear it is merely because you are in the same school-class as LakeyBOY.

Regards Mike

Check the history. Lakeyboy removed your comment, not me. People are free to put whatever they please on their userpages, and userboxes are part of that - it's far from your place to question what he puts on his. I've never completed a 5000m run, and I don't really know anyone who has - it's not a minor class of race by any measure. And no, I've never met him. --Evan C (Talk) 11:36, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
You dont know anyone who has ever completed a 5km run... I find that VERY hard to beleive.
Do you know anyone in the world who has:
(a) not got an AM radio?
(b) not got a FM radio?
(c) got separate AM/FM radios?
LakeyBOY's comments are pointless to the point of ridiculousness. I can't believe this kid is allowed to edit pages here.
While you deny meeting LakeyBOY, there is little doubt the two of you are friends (net-buddies). You both love trains and are 16. I find it a little confusing why if LakeyBOY removed the comment, and yet you are the one who complained to me about it. This is a little unusual.
begrudging regards Mike
You dont know anyone who has ever completed a 5km run...
I'm not the "athletic type", so whilst I probably do know a few people that might have, I really can't say I do know someone who has. The point is - it's far from 99% of people.
Do you know anyone in the world who has: <snip>
It's irrelevant. If he wants to add those userboxes to his page, what's it to you?
LakeyBOY's comments are pointless to the point of ridiculousness. <snip>
If you look at his contributions list, you'll see that he has made many significant conributions to Wikipedia, particularly relating to Melbourne's trains.
While you deny meeting LakeyBOY, there is little doubt the two of you are friends (net-buddies). <snip>
Moreso acquaintances. However, I will always jump to defend any good Wikipedian against unfair attack.
Really, what problem do you have with Lakeyboy? Is it his edits to Wikipedia? If not, this discussion has no place on Wikipedia's talk pages. By the way, please sign your posts using four tildes (~~~~), so that it is easier to get to your talk page. Thanks. --Evan C (Talk) 12:14, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Show some maturity boy, vendetta's are for children

Grow up and stop reverting my source edits. The Matt Tilley article needs sources. Most of what is there is unsourced and POV.

You are acting like a child.

--202.164.195.56 13:15, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
I get the distinct feeling that you are the one acting childishly. Particularly when all of your edits seem to have been either smothering articles in [citation needed] tags, adding completely unsourced and seemingly trivial "facts", or partaking in edit wars. And you call us childish? --Evan C (Talk) 13:38, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Melbourne meetup in planning

Hello, you've indicated that you're interested in future Meetups in Melbourne on this list, so I'm giving you this message to remind you that Melbounre meetup number four is currently in planning. If you haven't already, please go to Wikipedia:Meetup/Melbourne to suggest possible dates, times and locations. Thanks --Michael Billington (talkcontribs) 03:03, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Melbourne meetup

Greetings, person who is listed as being interested in future meetups in Melbourne. The fourth meetup will be held on 18 December, at Lower House in Fed Square (in the Alfred Deaking building, Flinders Street end near the Atrium: map), starting from 7pm. We don't currently have a separate location for discussion beforehand, but there'll be plenty of time to talk wiki over dinner. --bainer (talk) 15:03, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism of Railpage Australia

Please do not delete content from articles on Wikipedia, as you did to Railpage Australia. It may be considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 208.113.160.21 (talk)

Uhh,not Evan, but talk in THAT PAGE'S Discussion, that MAY NOT vandalism,do not warn unneccessarily(For the IP Dude). It causes Revert Wars and I'd like to introduce...Please DO assume GOOD Faith.121.7.56.203 10:31, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

(CC) I'd say I have good reason to call the placement of irrelevant, non-NPoV, misquoted, and improperly cited content vandalism in itself. However, thus far I have assumed good faith, and haven't called it such. The text I removed doesn't belong on the Railpage Australia article, not in its current form, at least. The reasons are specified on Talk: Railpage Australia. Feel free to discuss it there - the general method in a dispute is to remove the text in question, discuss until a consensus is reached, and then to put the content back.
Finally, I don't particularly like being "warned" for "vandalism" that I've not committed. Please try to be constructive. --Evan C (Talk) 10:41, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Please stop. If you continue to delete or blank page contents or templates from Wikipedia, as you did to Railpage Australia, you will be blocked. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 208.113.160.21 (talk)

Please stop. Wikipedia is not censored. Any further changes which have the effect of censoring an article, such as you did to Railpage Australia, will be regarded as vandalism. If you continue in this manner, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 208.113.160.21 (talk)

Sigh... it's probably pointless in this situation to point out that such reverts are far from censorship... --Evan C (Talk) 11:34, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
You have been blocked from editing for a short time in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for repeated abuse of editing privileges. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make constructive contributions. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below.

I love how I've been "blocked" by an anonymous IP, yet I can still edit just fine... how strange!
Seriously though, cut it out. --Evan C (Talk) 12:07, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fifth Melbourne meetup

The fifth meetup of Melbourne Wikipedians is being planned as a breakfast meeting in the city with Jimbo Wales (at a venue to be arranged) on Friday, 27 April 2007.

Jimbo has proposed breakfast as the one real window of opportunity during his tightly scheduled stay in Melbourne. Tbe precise time has to be sorted out with Jimbo, but the arrangements for the equivalent Adelaide meetup a few days before may give a good idea.

Feel free to edit the relevant page in any way that might be helpful. I feel like a bit of an interloper, not having attended previous meetups. If there's anything you can do to help, I'll be grateful. Please think about whether you'll be able to make it, assuming the arrangements are similar to those Adelaide is adopting (i.e. a block of time with people being fairly free to arrive when it suits them). Some indication on the page of your possible participation would be really helpful. Metamagician3000 06:28, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
