Hi, in response to your dismissive note, I suppose you did not see the re-direct to the dedicated page. My fault, I forgot to update the links on the Categorization pages in wiki and meta. I fixed that. The page is User:Brent Gulanowski/Categorization. If you did read it, then I don't understand your questions at all, since I was very specific and even provide an algorithm which is meant to show that the system could evolve naturally and need not be stuctured top-down like tree-based systems. I will look there. Your question "how is it different?" is meaningless. Any reader of two proposals should be able to understand the difference themselves. This is a very strange conversation. Did it occur to you that I have no idea who you are or what your responsibilities are? I don't recall imposing anything on you in the first place, thus your defensive posture is very confusing. The simplest thing you could have done was to say, "Here are some other proposals under discussion. Read them and then revise yours so that it adds something. BTW, I'm Evan and I care because ..." However, you began by making accusations. How about an encouraging response to a new wikipedian instead of an alienating one?
I have added a very large, detailed addendum to the proposal, on the talk page. If if fact you have some kind of stake in this, if you will be so kind as to provide links to other information and suggestions or anything whatsoever, I will read them and rewrite my proposal taking them into consideration. I'm one of the MediaWiki developers. I'm working on meta:field-value pairs, and one of the implementations of this is meta:categorization using field-value pairs. My interest in this is that you added your proposal to the list of proposals on meta:categorization, but it not only wasn't parallel with the other proposals -- since it didn't emphasize implementation -- but I also didn't see much in it that wasn't encompassed in all the other proposals around.
If you're serious about seeing categorization implemented in MediaWiki, you may want to extract the valuable pieces of your personal proposal and combine them into the meta:categorization requirements. --ESP 19:59, 18 Dec 2003 (UTC)

So sorry! I didn't know about the first time. I just figured since they'd been added to the other u.s.-related wars I would normalize and update. Our--and by our I guess I mean me ;)--standing policy is "This is an attempt to translate the battlebox format to a warbox format for U.S.-related wars. Do not force this box on pages where the users reject it. It is encouraged, but totally optional, and will often not work perfectly with a specific conflict--WWII, for example, would be difficult to fit into this paradigm." Anyway, my bad. Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to [[Wikipedia:Multi-licensing|multi-license]] all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:

Hi EvanProdromou. I've just reverted-out the changes you made to the UDHR article back on Sept 15th. The GBR 'most translated' statement is (unfortunately) a complex issue with many people advocating different wordings and reasons for keeping/removing the statement, in various forms -- please see the Talk page discussion on this issue. Hi Evan! Glad to see you're in Montreal, too!

Actually, I'm even happier that you brought up the UN/Académie française query. It is extremely pertinent and deserves investigation. When I was studying translation at NYU, we had the discussion about English at the UN (since there were two UN translators/interpreters as teachers in the program). It involved regional differences, unnatural English for any English-speaking country and British Imperialism.

I can't see the same type of debate for U.N. French. First, the norms in most French speaking countries are pretty much identical, aside from regional terms and major feminization in Québec. However, all French-language media outside of Paris try to align themselves with Paris media norms to a large extent, hence the term "français international". Upshot: there isn't much of an issue. So, in terms of a standard, the issue is more feminization, which has even caused scandals in France.

Then, the real question is, as you wrote, WHAT/WHO does the UN use for French? All I can say is that they don't really think about it and have certainly not adopted the Académie's spelling reforms from the past 100 years. Aside from that, I don't see any urge/need to use the A.F. as a reference. Dictionaries take up that role already. CJ Withers 20:10, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

It's the genitive case of Pródromos-Πρόδρομος (genitive ends in -ou, so Prodrómou-Προδρόμου is for <<Prodromos'>>), meaning literally "forerunner's".[1] So that would aim to make you "the son of the forerunner". Prodromos is a familiar appellation for John the Baptist in the Greek Orthodox Church (Ágios Ioánnis o Pródromos - also John the Forerunner in English). See also Family name#Greece.
