Evanescence EP is the first EP from the rock band Evanescence. It was released by Amy Lee and Ben Moody at a concert in 1998. The CD-R has four black 'E's printed on it and is sometimes signed by Lee and Moody. Like the Sound Asleep EP, it is very rare: only 100 copies were made.

The cover features the sculpture Angel of Grief by William Wetmore Story, also found on the cover of Nightwish's Once and The Tea Party's The Edges Of Twilight. Finally, the inserts on the EP are of low quality and therefore are often thought to be fake, which they are not.

[edit] Notes

I. ^ First known recorded version. Notably slower than the Origin version and feturing alternate lyrics during the bridge.
II. ^ Features clips from When a Man Loves a Woman.
III. ^ Outro; features re-worked samples from "Solitude".
IV. ^ First known recorded version. Notably slower than succesive recordings and feturing an alternate second verse. Sung solo by Amy Lee with a simple piano accompaniment.

V. ^ Contains samples from the 1956 horror movie "My World Dies Screaming" (A.K.A: Terror In The Haunted House) when the man says "You hold the answer deep within your own mind, conciously you've forgoten it, that's the way the human mind works, whenever we experience something to unpleasant, to shamefull for us to entertain, we reject it, and erase it from our memory, but the imprint is allways there, nothing is really forgoten.
