Eva Rios is a fictional character in the television series The Nine and is portrayed by Lourdes Benedicto.[1][2]. She is injured near the end of the hostage crisis and dies in a hospital shortly afterwards. The other hostages gather again for the first time at her funeral. She left behind a son, Ricky, and her sister, Franny Rios, who was also a teller at the bank.

Eva was attracted to Nick Cavanaugh, a regular customer at the bank, and the two were planning on going on a date before the incident. She continues to be a source of grief and dissonance for the entire group, who took her death very hard. There was a question of Eva's involvement with the robbery, as it was discovered that Eva's ex-boyfriend (and father of her child) had spent time in jail with Randall Reese, one of the robbers. She purchased plane tickets to Phoenix for herself and her son, moving the flights several times in what Nick describes as typical behavior for someone on the inside job (the latest flight was scheduled for the day after the robbery). Both Nick and Kathryn were leaning towards Eva's guilt until Franny indicated that the reason she kept putting off the move was due to Eva's hope that a relationship with Nick would start. There is currently a rift between Franny, Nick and Kathryn due to their suspicions over Eva's innocence.
