Eva Dahlbeck (born March 8, 1920) is a Swedish actress and author, born in Saltsjö-Duvnäs near Stockholm.

In the 1940s and 50s Dahlbeck was one of Sweden's most popular and successful actresses who also became internationally known for her strong female leads in a number of Ingmar Bergman-films, in particular his comedies Secrets of Women (1952), A Lesson in Love (1954) and Smiles of a Summer Night (1955).

In the 1960s, however, she eventually came to give up acting (she retired from the stage in 1964) as she started to write and Dahlbeck has not come back to filming or acting since the late 1960s (she made her last and final appearance in the Danish film Tintomara, released in 1970). She has published several novels and poems in her native Sweden, and much successfully wrote the screenplay for Arne Mattsson's dark film piece Yngsjömordet (The Yngsjö Murder) in 1966.

In 1961 she was awarded the Eugene O'Neill Award for her highly critically acclaimed stage work in several plays. Dahlbeck attended the prestigious old acting school of the Royal Dramatic Theatre (in Swedish: Dramatens elevskola) in 1941-44, and later successfully worked at the national stage for two decades (1944-64) as one of the theatres leading top actresses. She made her film break through with the role of Botilla in Rid i natt! in 1942.

Among her most notable roles in Swedish films prior to her Bergman-work are her shrewd celebrity reporter Vivi in Kärlek och störtlopp (1946), her working-class mother Rya-Rya in drama Bara en mor (1949), her warm mother of seven children, Mrs Larsson, in the popular children's film Kastrullresan (1950) and her young primary school teacher in Gustaf Molander's Trots (1952) (screenplay by Vilgot Sjöman).

Lives in Söderhamn, Hälsingland (2004).
