European Union Public Licence

The European Union Public Licence (EUPL) is a free software licence that has been drafted by the European Union.
Its latest version is version 1.0, which was approved by the European Commission on 9 January 2007. This licence is intended to be used for the distribution of software developed in the framework of the IDABC programme.
The main differentiator is its focusing on being compatible with the current copyright law in the 25 (now 27) member states of UE.

As stated on the EUPL appendix, this licence is compatible with other free software licences:
- General Public License (GPL) v. 2
- Open Software License (OSL) v. 2.1, v. 3.0
- Common Public License v. 1.0
- Eclipse Public License v. 1.0
- Cecill v. 2.0
