European Parliament election, 1989

The 1989 European Parliamentary Elections were held in June across all 12 current European Community member-states. These were the first elections Portugal and Spain took part in with the other states. The number of seats had been increased for these countries without adjusting the overall seating allocation. Average turnout was 59%
