European Music Radio

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

European Music Radio began in 1976 broadcasting from clandestine, mobile transmitters on various frequencies on the 48 metre short-wave band. Typical transmitter power was just 10 watts, but despite the low power, EMR's signal was received over most of Western Europe and Scandinavia.

Today EMR is a legal international broadcast station, renting airtime on relay transmitters with considerably higher power and can be heard throughout the world. Most recently EMR has been heard via the T-Systems transmitter in Juelich, Germany on 6045 kHz. EMR also has a 24-hour Internet service which can be received here
