European Hit Radio (EHR) is one of the very first commercial radio stations in Latvia. This radio focuses on reflecting the current situation in European music charts. Every week the European Hit Radio servers automatically check each European country's single charts, index songs in order of their position on the chart and, with a special secret script, automatically make a playlist. This script is programmed to manage the playlist so that one can turn on the radio at any time and, in a few hours, know the current situation in the European music market - what music is most popular in Europe right now. The script also can avoid repeats of the most popular song and make the playlist very interesting. That is why the station's new name is European Hit Radio.

[edit] History

EHR's history can be traced back to 1992, when Uģis Polis and Jānis Krauklis founded Radiodejas, which was the first non-governmental radio station in Latvia. Radiodejas broadcasted from a flat in Terbatas street, Riga and reached only the city of Riga.

In 1994 they renamed the radio station Super FM. As Super FM the station became very popular in Latvia with easy listening and popular music, charts and interesting broadcasts. Top 40 became a weekend party because Super FM discotheque was opened near downtown.

In 2002 European Hit Radio started a new policy - to reflect the music situation in Europe with fresh music and charts from all European countries.

In 2004 European Hit Radio went off air in Estonia after losing broadcasting license competition to a new Adult Contemporary station Raadio 3
