European Commissioner for Information Society & Media

The European Commissioner for Information Society & Media is a portfolio within the European Commission responsible for media and information issues such as telecoms. In the previous Prodi Commission information society was linked with Enterprise (now in Enterprise & Industry) under Erkki Liikanen. The current Commissioner is Viviane Reding (EPP-ED) who has notably been popular for fighting for lower roaming fees on mobile phones.
