European Commissioner for Health

The Commissioner for Health is the member of the European Commission responsible for affairs relating to health. The current Commissioner is Markos Kyprianou.
This is a new post, created when Bulgaria joined the European Union on 1 January 2007, was previously part of the Health & Consumer Protection portfolio which was also held by Markos Kyprianou. The Directorate-General is still merged with that office.
