Europa Universalis III (EUIII) is a grand strategy computer game by Paradox Interactive.
The game starts in 1453 right after the Fall of Constantinople and continues up until the French Revolution in 1789. The player controls a nation, and handles matters concerning war, diplomacy, trade and the economy.
EUIII has a 3D engine which requires the system to meet the Pixel Shader 2.0 specification. The map has 1,700 land and sea provinces encompassing the entire world, with 250 playable historical nations. The game also uses elements of other Paradox games such as Crusader Kings, Victoria and Hearts of Iron II.

- Players can play over 300 years of history by starting at any date between May 30 1453 and July 14 1789.
- Players can decide their own form of government, the structure of their society, trade policies, etc.
- Player can take up national ideas to improve and specialise their country
- Great people such as Sir Isaac Newton, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart or René Descartes will be available to the player.
- Unlike earlier Paradox games there are no country-specific events.
- A topographic map in full 3D allows for a complete world view, and contains more than 1700 provinces and sea zones.
- Players can choose between any of 250 nations that existed during the time period.
- 4000 different monarchs as well as 1000 other individuals will make an appearance in the game.
- Manage more than 100 individual unit troops to secure as much power as possible.
- Co-operative multiplayer mode allows several players to work together to control a single nation.
