Eugene Airport (IATA: EUG, ICAO: KEUG), also known as Mahlon Sweet Field, is a public airport located 7 miles (11 km) northwest of Eugene, in Lane County, Oregon. Owned and operated by the City of Eugene, it is the fifth-largest airport in the Pacific Northwest, providing commercial air service to a six-county region in mid-Oregon. The modern terminal building has "A" gates on the upper level and "B" gates, ticketing, and baggage claim on the lower level. The airport also has an expanded air cargo facility to serve the growing air cargo demands of the region, and one fixed base operator (FBO) to handle general aviation needs.
The airport was named for Mahlon Sweet (1886 - 1947), a Eugene automobile dealer who was a strong supporter of aviation and pushed to get the now-defunct Eugene Air Park built in 1919, followed by the current airfield in 1943.[1]

[edit] Airlines and destinations
Eugene Airport is served by five air carriers:
- Alaska Airlines (B gates)
- Horizon Air (Los Angeles [begins June 4, 2007], Medford, Portland (OR), Redmond/Bend, Seattle/Tacoma)
- Allegiant Air (Las Vegas) [begins May 10, 2007]

- United Airlines (A gates)
- United Express operated by SkyWest (Denver, Portland (OR), San Francisco)
- US Airways (A gates)
- US Airways Express operated by Mesa Airlines (Las Vegas, Phoenix)
US Airways Express has been the focus of a considerable amount of negative local media attention due to their continual downsizing and cancelling of service to Eugene that often leave passengers stranded. A March 15th Article in the Eugene Register Guard also focussed attention on US Airways' tendency to heavily overbook flights out of Eugene as well as Medford and Prortland.
Approximate flight times between Eugene and non-stop destinations are:
- Denver, Colorado - 2 hours, 22 minutes
- Las Vegas, Nevada - 1 hour, 45 minutes
- Los Angeles, California - 2 hours, 15 minutes
- Phoenix, Arizona - 2 hours, 25 minutes
- Portland, Oregon - 40 minutes
- Salt Lake City, Utah - 1 hour, 45 minutes
- San Francisco, California - 1 hour, 30 minutes
- Seattle, Washington - 1 hour, 5 minutes
[edit] General aviation
There are two fixed based operators on field that cater to general aviation, Flightcraft and Friendly Air Service. Flightcraft specializes in maintenance and working on larger GA aircraft like Gulfstreams and Learjets, and Friendly Air Service rents Cessna 172s and offers flight training.
[edit] Parking
The parking facility is attended 24 hours a day and contains 237 short-term and more than 1000 long-term parking spaces in the main lot, with an additional 582 spaces in the overflow lot. When the overflow lot is in use, shuttle service to and from the terminal is available. Short-term parking is $1.00 per half hour or $12.00 per day. Long-term parking is $7.00 per day or $42 for a seven-day week. Credit cards, local checks, and cash are accepted. Handicap parking spaces are all located in the short term lot and are all charged at the long term rate of $7.00 per day.
