Eugène Soubeiran
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Eugène Soubeiran (born December 5, 1797, died 17 November 1859) was a renowned French scientist who served as chief pharmacist at the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital. He was one of three researchers who discovered chloroform independently of one another. Soubeiran was the first to publish his findings, but it is difficult to determine who was actually first to make the discovery, as each may have allowed an interval of time to elapse between discovery and publication.
He was the first to discover Cubebin, and was also a central pharmacy director for the Hospitals and Hospices of Paris (hôpitaux et hospices de Paris).
