Euchondrus is a genus of snails of the family Enidae found in the Negev desert. They are noted for eating lichens growing under limestones, resulting in the erosion of the stones and formation of soil. These snails have a significant effect on the region. They are estimated to process between .7 and 1.1 metric ton per year of limestone in the Negev desert.
