[edit] Fields of Law

The EU Institute focusses on topical issues in transnational commercial law, and European law. The European Union is a major trading partner of the United States and Asia, and as the enlargement process of the EU continues a sound understanding of the many legal and policy questions that arise is imperative for any lawyer interested in international law.

[edit] Schools

The EU Institute holds annual short courses: a summer school and winter school. The schools bring together scholars, members of governments, judges, policy makers, and students from around the world. Eschewing conventional lecture-type formats, the emphasis is on achieving an in-depth understanding of select issues through discussions and seminars.

In addition to the academic program, the courses aim to develop cultural awareness, knowledge about Germany and the European Union, and offer a holiday retreat.

[edit] Location and Transportation

EU Institute is located in the little village of Siethen, about 40 Km outside of central Berlin. The Institute provided shuttle service from the campus to Ludwigsfelde train station or the nearby towns.

[edit] Facilities

The campus offers a wide range of additional facilities, e.g. outside chess, boats, table tennis, etc. The rooms are well-equipped with modern furniture, spacious, and most offer a partial view of the lake. The food is provided by the EU Institute. Depending on preferences, one can book accommodation and breakfast, or accommodation and halfboard.
