Etz Chaim

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Etz Chaim, (tree of life) is an important concept in Judaism.

The term Etz Chaim (plural Atzai Chaim) is used to describe each of the wooden poles which hold the parchment roll for a Sefer Torah scroll.

Figuratively, the term Etz Chaim is also applied to the Torah itself, a famous Jewish expression stating that "It [Torah] is a Tree of Life to those that hold to it".
