The Etude Op. 8 No. 12, a piano work by Alexander Scriabin in D-sharp minor, features treacherous stretches, unmerciful left-hand work, and abundant octaves. A particular favorite among pianists and audiences alike.

The dramatic leitmotif and moving recitative of the solo in the upper voices on the chordal background is characteristic for Scriabin's early creations.[1]
