Etienne Barbara (born June 10, 1982 in Malta) is a professional footballer currently playing for Maltese Premier League side Birkirkara, where he plays as a striker. Barbara started out as a youth player with Qormi before earning a move into the Maltese Premier League in July 1999 with Floriana, although he played 74 games with the club he only managed 8 goals all scored in the 2001/2002 season, although in 2002 he received his first call up to the Maltese national team due to some of his impressive performances.[1][2]
Etienne failed to shine with Floriana and in January 2003 he moved onto Marsaxlokk. He continued to make appearances for the national team and really hit some form, he scored an impressive 21 goals in just 43 games. After just under two seasons with Marsaxlokk Barbara earned a move to Malta's most successful club Birkirkara in July 2004 where he remains to this day. Barbara is a regular in the Birkirkara squad and is without doubt one of the best known players in the Maltese League. Barbara has played 12 games for the Malta national football team, scoring 3 goals.[3][4]
