Ethylene carbonate, also called 1,3-dioxolan-2-one and ethylene glycol carbonate, is an organic chemical, an ester of ethylene glycol and carbonic acid. It is a colorless odorless liquid with melting point 34-37 °C and boiling point at 246.7 °C. It is flammable. It is chemically stable. Its CAS number is [96-49-1] and its SMILES structure is O=C1OCCO1.

Ethylene carbonate is used as a polar solvent. It can be used as a high permittivity component of electrolytes in lithium batteries.

Ethylene carbonate is also used as plasticizer.
