Founded in 1978 by Richard Glass, the Electronic Technicians Association International Http://www.ETA-I.ORG is a not-for-profit group [1]

The group appears to be more "about geeks and for geeks" and has certifications tests in different areas [2] from Bio Medical to FCC licensing [3]

Some tests are part of a series following the Apprentice, JourneyMan, Master concept. Other certifications are stand-alone. It appears the US Miltary is "big" on the Fiber Optics tests offered.
