Why do they have those cheesy commercials about a spy advertising Esurance? I can't quite understand. --Yancyfry jr 03:45, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

Because they're so cheesy, they're AWESOME.

Also, it's probably because it's the kind of commercial that you can watch once, and then it just sticks with you, and you remember it. That's what commercials are going for, it seems. Less of "Buy product now", and more of building brand identity. Red Stripe seems to go along the same lines. --Dualcore Dave 06:14, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

funny, this esurance wikipedia seems like a commercial. This article should have more infomation useful to consumers dealing with this company.

this is a pretty crappy wikipedia article. my favorite part was the shout-out to the disenfranchised sacramento office.

Hi. This is Kristin, the Director of Brand & PR at Esurance. To answer some of your comments & queries...

1) Sorry you don't like the ads, Yancyfry jr. It's tough to get the word out about something that can be as boring a topic as insurance, especially when your competitors outspend you by staggering amounts. So, it pushes you to do something a little different. Since I'm rather biased, I won't use the word "cheesy." :) 2) Dualcore Dave - That's a good observation. You really want people to remember you, which is hard to do in such a cluttered world. We all see a tremendous amount of advertising messages a day, so you have to create words and pictures that really stand out. 3) On the Wikipedia article's content, what information would you find more useful? I'd be glad to provide it. Someone who didn't know much about our company started this, and it had all sorts of incorrect information on it: things like premium amounts were wrong, things about our policies and procedures were misleading, so I came in to correct it. I don't want it to seem like a commercial, and I am glad to provide factual info when I'm able, so let me know what else you'd like to know. (If you think it's not too great now, inaccuracy made it worse, and cheapens the value of collective intelligence that Wikipedia represents.) 4) On the tag about merging with Erin Esurance, it seems that this entry should be about the company and not our animated spokesperson, which should be separate. If someone wanted to know general facts about us, that's probably a different person than someone trying to find out about all the ads Erin Esurance has starred in.

Anyway, sorry for the long message....but basically, we didn't start the posts, and now have the job of keeping them factually accurate, so I'm all ears about how to do that while dealing with how to improve the content. Thanks for your feedback...and your work in keeping track of the collective knowledge. --Kristin

It is generally considered bad form to edit a Wikipedia Article on yourself or a group you are closely tied to. - 24.10.95.220 18:18, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
Wikipedia guidelines say "you should feel free to correct mistaken or out-of-date facts about yourself, such as marital status, current employer, place of birth, and so on." Mattymatt 20:42, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
Hi again. Kristin here. Like I said, we didn't post this and just got told there was inaccurate stuff out there. And it was inaccurate. So we fixed it. And, it may "seem" like bad form, but if it's inaccurate info about the company I work for, that seems like much worse form in an encyclopedia to me. Though maybe this isn't an encyclopedia if accuracy isn't that much of a concern. 15:13 p.m. PST
Kristin, perhaps you should read WP:NOT#SOAPBOX and Wikipedia:Spam. --MasterA113 13:18, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

I think the ads are cool, infact i think they should make a tv show or video game from it,although that is most likey impossible.-hotspot

[edit] List of episodes

FYI, someone has proposed deleting List_of_Esurance_commercial_episodes Subwayguy 01:10, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

It's probabally because its not a tv show, although i think that would be cool if it wasnt deleted.-hotspot

[edit] I cleaned up the article.

The article no longer reads like an advertisement, and I removed most of the cruft. If anyone else can make it better, please do. --MasterA113 19:19, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Art Director?

It seems to me that the esurance commercials are created by Genndy Tartakovsky. Heavy on the action, very angular stills (jawlines, especially), and no black boundary lines around objects, a la "Samurai Jack." Is there any truth to this idea of mine, or is there a Genndy imposter out there somewhere? 64.186.88.242 01:03, 11 February 2007 (UTC)C. Carr 2/9/07

Nope. Not his work. --MasterA113 00:44, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
