[edit] Wikipedia's Autobiography Policy
Mr. Stillwell, I'm sure many people welcome a man of your life experience to Wikipedia. I wished to bring to your attention a policy that exists on Wikipedia with regards to contributing to Wikipedia articles about which you yourself are the subject. The policy can be found here. I point this out solely in a friendly, non-supervisory manner, to bring your attention, in case you had not seen it already. I'm not an admin and have no interest in doing anything that would come across as chiding you. — Mike • 19:43, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
Mike: I did not originate the biography of me on Wikipedia. I don't know the person who did. I admit I've edited the article for accuracy in the past (it appears I made numerous attempts over a period of a couple of days while I was still learning how to use the system), but the article has since been re-edited numerous times by others. Wikipedia policy (which is actually a "quideline" and not a policy) states, in part: "Feel free to correct mistaken or out-of-date facts about yourself." The current biography of me is incorrect. I was not born in 1963. I was not born in Eugene, Oregon. I wasn't even born in the United States. There are typos and redudancies in the article. I would be more than happy if somebody else would edit the article and correct the errors. I was born in 1962 in Okinawa, Japan. Thanks! EStillwell 22:11, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] License tagging for Image:Nanna'sCottage.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Nanna'sCottage.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 21:07, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

- I've added the following tags to the photos I uploaded:
This is a logo of an organization, item, or event, and is protected by copyright and/or trademark. It is believed that the use of low-resolution images of logos
- to illustrate the organization, item, or event in question
- on the English-language Wikipedia, hosted on servers in the United States by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation,
qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. Certain commercial use of this image may also be trademark infringement. See Wikipedia:Fair use and Wikipedia:Logos.
Use of the logo here does not imply endorsement of the organization by Wikipedia or the Wikimedia Foundation, nor does it imply endorsement of Wikipedia or the Wikimedia Foundation by the organization.
To the uploader: please add a detailed fair use rationale for each use, as described on Help:Image page#Fair use rationale, as well as the source of the work and copyright information.
[edit] Image tagging for Image:ShawnPiller.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:ShawnPiller.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Sasha Playnowski.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Sasha Playnowski.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Chowbok ☠ 20:17, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image:ShawnPiller.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:ShawnPiller.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Chowbok ☠ 16:05, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Nanna'sCottage.jpg
Thank you for uploading Image:Nanna'sCottage.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. MECU≈talk 23:05, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
