Talk:Esteban/Comments

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In response to a couple of factual and or "biased" responses concerning the article on Steve Paul, a.k.a. Esteban, I offer the following:

1) He graduated from South Hills Catholic High School (Pittsburgh) in 1966. I was one of his high school English teachers and I remember him well.

2) Yes, he charged his peers $3 for guitar lessons, but this was an after-school job for a kid that aspired to go to college. There are not many teen philanthropists even today.

3) Although quality complaints about his guitars are inevitable, the Steve Paul that I remember was a sensitive and considerate young man who would not set out to rip off people with an inferior product. If you consider the asking price for his guitar, and its popularity is no doubt linked to its price, then he is providing an instrument comparable to the one that his uncle gave him as a young child. Of course I do not discount the possibility of a metamorphosis, and "sensitive" can turn into "scam" over a period of time. I encountered him yesterday at his 40th class reunion, the first time since his graduation in '66. I didn't even know that he was well known until a few days ago, but he still seemed to be Steve Paul as I remembered him. 209.244.187.34 10:00, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
