[edit] Summary

A plaque on a monument dedicated to Estanislao López (1786–1838), brigadier, caudillo and governor of Santa Fe Province, Argentina, local leader of the federalist forces. The monument is located in a park in Rosario, beside the Paraná River. The plaque reproduces a letter sent by López to General José de San Martín, national hero, thanking him for refusing to attack Santa Fe, "spilling the blood of brothers", when ordered to do so by the centralist government of Buenos Aires. López promises to follow San Martín "with the province en masse" should the General require.

This picture was taken by Pablo D. Flores on 20 March 2006.
