Estrella Alfón is a well-known Filipina fictionist in English.

(1917-1983) She was a storywriter, playwright and journalist. Published in 1960, “Magnificence and Other Stories” is her most anthologized work, providing excellent insights into the primacy of the mother-daughter bond as well as into the psychological oppression of women and children. She held the National Fellowship in Fiction post at the U.P. Creative Writing Center in 1979.
