Estreito da Calheta

Estreito da Calheta (Portuguese for Strait of Calheta) is a parish in the district of Calheta in the Madeira Islands. The population in 2001 is 1,630, its density is 121.6/km² and the area is 13.4 km². The strait is not far from the parish and Calheta. The main industry are agriculture, fishing with some businesses. It is connected with a road linking Calheta and Funchal. The Atlantic Ocean is to the south. The mountains are to the northeast.
