Esther Orozco

María Esther Orozco Orozco (San Isidro, Chihuahua, Mexico, 1945) is a Mexican biologist and researcher, winner of Louis Pasteur Medal of UNESCO and Women and Science Price of UNESCO-L'Oréal in 2006.

She got a Bachelor degree in Chemistry in Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua, with a doctor degree in Cell Biology in Instituto Politécnico Nacional, her works deal mainly with amoebiasis.

She’s a member of Instituto de Patología Experimiental del Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados and founder of Centro de Investigación de Ciencia y Tecnología Aplicadas. She's a member of Partido de la Revolución Democrática, and was candidate for the state of Chihuahua

In December 2006, she was named director of the Instituto de Ciencia y Tecnología del Distrito Federal.
