Estadio Luis Franzini

The Estadio Luis Franzini Stadium (or Luis Franzini Stadium) is located in Montevideo, Uruguay, on the Parque Rodo at the intersection of Herrera y Reissig and Sarmiento streets.
Situated on municipal land, the Luis Franzini Stadium pays homage to the legendary president of the Uruguayan Soccer Commission (Comisión de Fútbol) and Club Atletico Defensor, Luis Franzini, who reigned over the club for thirty three years.
The stadium maximum capacity is 18,000 people, and it is the home ground of Defensor Sporting.The stadium (closed for one season in 1997) was re-opened on 16-August-1998 as "Nuevo Estadio Luis Franzini".Field and capacity were increased, and field had also to be "leveled",because it had a pendient towards the río de la plata (west).
