Esjufjöll is a basaltic andesite tuya with a 2.5 km wide caldera, located west of Katla in Iceland. Eyjafjöll is less active than the other Icelandic volcanoes, although it has been active during historic times. Holocene lava flows are known at Esjufjöll.
