Esiliiga
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Esiliiga is the second-top league arranged by the Estonian Football Association. The league format was changed along with the Meistriliiga's, and therefore from the year 2005 consists of ten teams. Esiliiga starts from April and lasts until around the start of November. Many Meistriliiga clubs reserve squads play in the Esiliiga, but none of them can get promoted according to the rules set by the FA. All teams play each other four times. The top team receives automatic promotion to the Meistriliiga, unless it is a reserve team, in which case the team that finished second gets promoted. The team that finishes after the formerly mentioned team, goes to the play-offs against the second last, ninth, team of the Meistriliiga.

FC Kuressaare gained automatic promotion to the Meistriliiga as FC Levadia II are a reserve team to Meistriliiga champions FC Levadia and therefore cannot be promoted to the same league as its parent club. Tallinna Kalev also go up after winning the promotion/relegation play-offs. The bottom three clubs were relegated.
The leagues top-scorer was FC Levadia youngster Kaimar Saag with 37 goals. Nõmme Kalju's Andrus Mitt scored 35 goals.
