ESITrack is a vehicle tracking device provider. ESITrack is the only vehicle tracking hardware with open protocol. The benefit of this policy provides ESITrack to many software providers, system integrators, and business partners. The ESI protocol has been adapted by various vehicle tracking companies, including vi-track and Inovatrack

[edit] ESITrack history and future

ESITrack was developed from the need for positioning services. PT. Elda Sarana Informatika (ESI) was established back in the year 2000 and specializes in providing vehicle tracking hardware.

In 2000, the first type of ESITrack H11 was released to the market. H11 utilized the global system for mobile communications (GSM) for data transport and employed the Philips processor microcontroller.

In 2006, ESITrack released their fifth generation vehicle tracking system called ESITrack H360, which is still based on GSM. Working together with satellite communication provider Pasifik Satelit Nusantara (PSN) they also released ByruEsi which is available as an accessory for the user which already has the satellite phone, or as an integrated module for 'tracking only' customer requirements.

In the second quarter of 2006 ESITrack also released Zigbee vehicle tracking device. With these types of vehicle tracking solutions, ESITrack provides the most extensive choice of vehicle tracking devices, such as GPS logger tracking, GPS/GSM based sms/gprs vehicle tracking, satellite tracking, and short range radio (zigbee) tracking. For Hardware, ESITrack utilizes SonyEricsson gsm engine, and Ublox GPS module.

Today, ESITrack serves the European, Asian, and Australian markets. ESITrack devices are implemented solutions for many type of businesses, including inter-island bus tracking, logistics, trucking, oil and gas companies, courier services, yacht and ship, mining companies, car rental services, banking, and private car tracking solutions.

[edit] ESI protocol

ESI protocol is a simple but flexible protocol to implement on low data rate communication. ESI protocol start with # character, and separated comma text mode. General description is:

#command,<password>,<reference>,{parameter.....}
# : is to start the command
command : the command to implement
<password> : the password of the device
<reference> : the reference number of this request

There are some important command as samples:

#setparam,<password>,<reference>,{param_name_1:value_1},{...},{param_name_n:value_n}
Set parameter(s) value by their name.
Example#setparam,123456,01,send_on_call:1,min_gps_mode:3, send_on_digio:0
#setparamcode,<password>,<reference>,{param_code_1:value_1},{...},{param_code_n:value_n}
Set parameter(s) value by their code.
Example#setparamcode,123456,01,c01:23,c02:1,u02:12345
#getparam,<password>,<reference>,{param_name_1},{...},{param_name_n}
Get parameter(s) value by their name.
Example#getparam,123456,22,send_on_call, min_gps_mode, send_on_digio
#getparamcode,<password>,<reference>,{param_code_1},{...},{param_code_n}
Get parameter(s) value by their code.
Example#getparamcode,123456,11,c01,u02,f02
