[edit] Welcome!

Hi, Escheffel, Welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope you like this place — I sure do — and want to stay. Before getting too in-depth, you may want to read about the five pillars of Wikipedia. If you need help on how to title new articles check out the naming conventions, and for help on formatting the pages visit the manual of style. If you need help look at Wikipedia:Help and the FAQ , plus if you can't find your answer there, check the Village Pump (for Wikipedia related questions) or the Reference Desk (for general questions)! There's still more help at the Tutorial and Policy Library. Plus, don't forget to visit the Community Portal. And if you have any more questions after that, feel free to post them on my user talk page.

[edit] Additional tips

Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the 'pedia!

  • If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
  • You can sign your name using three tildes, like ~~~. If you use four, you can add a datestamp too.
  • You may want to add yourself to the new user log.
  • If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
  • If you're still entirely confused, or would like to get a better grasp of your wikipedia skills, and you have an IRC client (or don't mind getting one), check out the Bootcamp. It's not what it sounds like, but it is fun and can help you with your editing skills.
  • If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random page button in the sidebar, or check out the Open Task message in the Community Portal.

[edit] Happy Wiki-ing.

[edit] Image copyright tags

Good day Emile.

I am glad that you have begun contributing to the Wikipedia project. It is good to have your contributions. I am particularly pleased to see the pictures you added for Thompson Rivers University. It helped to improve that beginning article. However, I am concerned that the pictures do not have Image copyright tags. According to Wikipedia:Image use policy, all images must have a description on their page noting the source and copyright information or else they will be deleted. Please consult the policy and copyright tags pages and choose appropriate tags for your images so we don't lose them.

If you need help, please don't hesitate to ask me on my talk page. Cheers, DoubleBlue (Talk) 3 July 2005 23:28 (UTC)

  • I have tagged Image:Tradestech.jpg, Image:Int.jpg, and Image:International.jpg as copyright violations since they came from http://www.tru.ca/about_tru/kamloops/phototour.html which has a copyright notice. Unfortunately, Wikipedia cannot host copyrighted images and they will be deleted. Please continue to contribute to Wikipedia and learn more about policies and procedures. Cheers, DoubleBlue (Talk) 5 July 2005 02:53 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Dionlogo.jpg)

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Dionlogo.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --Durin 22:08, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Use of fair use images on your userpage

Please stop re-adding Image:Dionlogo.jpg and Image:Lib-can.png to your userpage. Both of these images are properly tagged with fair use tags limiting their use on Wikipedia to main namespace articles only, which does not include your userpage. Please see Wikipedia:Fair use criteria item #9. If you have any questions about this, I'd be happy to answer. All the best, --Durin 02:34, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Newlabourlogo.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Newlabourlogo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Thank you.
