Eschenrode lies approx. 10 km southwest from Flechtingen between Lappwald and Flechtinger mountain range. The municipality is part of the Verwaltungsgemeinschaft ("collective municipality") Flechtingen. Nearby towns are Brunswick, Wolfsburg and Magdeburg.

Eschenrode are surrounded on three sides by wood. Not far from the village lies the abandoned village Nievoldhagen.

For the first time the village was mentioned "Haskenroth" in a confirmation document of the pope Hadrian IV for cloister Mariental in 1158. Because the Eschenroder church to from Hildegrim of Chalons († 827), to the first bishop Bistums Halberstadt, to founded 35 parish churches heard, is presumably clearly older Eschenrode. The church Eschenrodes is consecrated Heiligen Stephan. In her is rare Bodeorgel, a baptismal angel as well as one according to Nievoldhagensage in the wood found bell which is one of three ones. Nievoldhagen a settlement was in the wood from which one sees still today the foundation walls of the former church.

The federal highway 1 Brunswick with Berlin connects, these are in southern direction approx. 11 km The federal motorway 2 connection point Alleringersleben (64) is reached after 14 km. The Landesstrasse 42, connection of waste dump life and Weferlingen goes through the middle of the place.
