Eryx elegans (Gray, 1849) |
The Central Asian sand boa (Eryx elegans), also known as the elegant sand boa, is found in Turkmenistan, Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. It is not well known in the wild or in captivity.
It is a small boa, reaching about 15 inches (38 centimeters) in length. The scales are small and slightly keeled. Coloration is very bland, consisting of a light olive-brown background, with small, irregular, darker brown blotches with black edges running along the back. There are also brown blotches on the ventral surface.
