[edit] Political life

Pröll is a well-known supporter of coalitions. In 2000, he supported a coalition of the Freedom Party of Austria and his own party. Two years later, in 2002, he was against a new coalition with the populist party.

In Lower Austria he planned tax of mobile-phone masts and throwed the EU-authorities into a dither. After an agreement with the mobile radio companies, the taxation was not realized. The agreement in fact was used as an example for other regions.

In 2006 he hosted a conference with EU politicians over subsidiarity in Sankt Pölten.
