Ervin Skela

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ervin Skela (born November 17, 1976 in Vlorë) is an Albanian footballer currently playing for Energie Cottbus.

His early football career was spent with Albanian top division team Flamurtari and later SK Tirana. In 1997 he moved to Germany, playing for Union Berlin (1997-1999) and Chemnitzer FC (1999-2000) before he moved to SV Waldhof Mannheim, who missed promotion the following season by one point. He moved on to Eintracht Frankfurt (2001-2004), DSC Arminia Bielefeld (2004-2005) and 1. FC Kaiserslautern (2005-2006).

After the disappointing season 2005-06 (relegation into the Second Bundesliga), Ervin Skela was released from his current contract with Kaiserslautern, and subsequently joined Italian side Ascoli Calcio on a free transfer. He signed a one-year deal and made his debut with Ascoli on September 9, 2006. However, Skela did not manage to make his breakthrough on the starting lineup and was released for free soon after, during the January 2007 transfer market, to German club Energie Cottbus.

Ervin Skela was included in the Albanian national football team in 2000, and has so far played 22 games and scored 5 goals.
