Eruanno

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Eruanno is Tolkien Quenya for the christian name Matthew. It is derived from the Quenya words Eru (the One), and Anna (a gift). In hebrew Matthew means "Gift of God", and so Eruanno means "God-gift" in Quenya where the -a ending is changed to an -o to indicate masculinity in elvish. Genitive turns -u in some cases to -o, so the alternate constructions for this meaning render diphthongs which are not valid in correct Elvish.

Eruanno is also the name of a powerful knight in the gameworld of Dolera in the computer game Tibia (computer game), whose name in real life is also Matthew. See the character here [1].
