Ertugrul Gazi is the leader of the Kayi clan of the Oghuz Turks which gave rise to the famous Ottoman Empire. His son, Osman Gazi was the first Ottoman Sultan. The Kayi clan settled near Sogut, Bilecik in today's Turkey which became the capitl of the Ottoman State in 1299.
